Our staff and programs are dedicated to developing happy and confident swimmers. The Martha Burns' method focuses on teaching your child as an individual within a small group dynamic. We believe in an approach that encourages your child to want to learn and try new things. Learning to swim is a lifesaving skill.
At MBSS we build the foundation using proper technique from day one. Martha Burns' method has found that students learn best when they swim with others of varying abilities. Yet the more experienced swimmer is still motivated to learn and master the four base strokes.
Foundation lessons can start as young as 22 months (as long as they can sit in the pool and follow simple instructions) the parents do not get in the pool with the children. The Martha Burns' method is unique in that the swimmers progress at their own pace and build confidence in their abilities. The swimmers in foundation lessons learn the four base strokes: freestyles, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke. While the complete stroke comes together without "levels" holding back on the swimmers advancement. NO flotation devices, regardless of child's age. You can have more than one of your children (different ages) in the same class together, there is no group instruction. Out instructors teach to each child's level, one-on-one. There could be a beginner, intermediate, and/or advanced swimmers in the class.
Technique lessons can start as soon as the swimmer advances from Foundation lessons into Technique lessons. The swimmers build confidence and refine their technique.
